Micro Reviews of the iPhone 5, iOS 6, and Borderlands 2
Last week the iPhone 5, iOS 6, and Borderlands 2 were released. They’re all incremental improvements over their previous versions, and all things which I’ve been happily using for the last few days.
First up, the iPhone 5:
It’s lighter, quicker, and has a larger screen than my iPhone 4. I skipped the 4S, so the speed improvement is going to feel larger to me than a 4S user. I didn’t think my 4 was slow, until using the 5 for a few minutes. It’s significantly quicker. The new dock connector is much smaller than I expected, and I love that it can be plugged in either way. The screen is slightly larger, which is nice, but not as noticeable as I would have expected. The big difference in the screen is that I have to rearrange my icons.
iOS 6:
It brought Siri to my iPad, which has been entertaining, but I haven’t used it in my daily life yet. The Maps app is smooth and fun to fly around, but according to the internet, it’s terrible. I’ll try it out before judging it, and if it is bad, I have a link to Google Maps, and Navigon installed. Pull-to-refresh is a nice addition to mail and other apps. It should have been added years ago.
Borderlands 2:
So far it’s been very similar to Borderlands 1. Some rough edges are smoothed over, the story is better, and previous characters are in the game.
